Prevent Land Conflict, Nusron Wahid Urges Owners Of Old Land Certificates 1961-1997 Update Data
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid appealed to people who have land certificates issued from 1961 to 1997 to immediately update data at the local land office (cantah).
According to Nusron, re-checking the status of the land parcel and updating of certificate data is important so that land issues do not cause conflicts in the future.
"Please regional heads, instruct the sub-district, village head and RT/RW, the people who hold the certificate from 1961-1997 come to the BPN office, it is up to date. If necessary, we will re-measure it, it will be matched from now on so that it will not become a problem in the future," said Nusron in an official statement quoted Monday, November 17.
He explained that overlapping land certificates or the appearance of multiple land certificates in one plot of land generally occurred in land certificates from 1961-1997.
At that time, the land infrastructure, regulations and technology used were not as good as they are today.
As a result, if the land is not guarded, neighbors do not know each other or the village government is not notified, it is difficult to know whether the land parcel has been certified or not.

"Overlap problems occur usually because old products that have not been included in the land digitization system database and it appears that the land parcel is empty, so when there is an applicant who has included complete introductory documents showing physical, juridical and histori land documents, certificates can be issued," he explained.
As part of efforts to encourage community independence in maintaining land assets, the public is advised to take advantage of the Touch Tanahku application.
The official application of the Ministry of ATR/BPN allows the public to check the basic information on their land parcels, monitor the service process to ensure that land data is recorded in the system is appropriate.
The existence of the application is expected to help the community carry out initial checks before coming to the land office for data updating.
