DPR Reminds Israel's Trap Alert When Indonesia Sends 20,000 Troops To Gaza

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sukamta, positively welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's plan to send 20,000 TNI soldiers as peacekeepers to Gaza, Palestine. However, this PKS politician reminded the government to pay attention to a number of crucial aspects, including potential risks and needs to prepare special units such as cyber and health.

Sukamta fully supports Indonesia's active steps in the peace mission, in accordance with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia to maintain world order.

"Indonesia is always actively involved in sending peacekeepers if it is needed in countries that are in conflict. Including the plan to send 20,000 TNI troops to Gaza that President Prabowo conveyed some time ago," said Sukamta, Monday, November 17.

Alert Utilized By Israel

The leadership of the Commission in charge of foreign and defense relations highlighted two main considerations. First, sending troops must really be in the context of maintaining peace (peacekeeping).

"Don't let Israel take advantage of it to achieve its goals that cannot be achieved through genocide over the last two years in Gaza," he stressed.

However, Sukamta believes that the ability of the Government and the TNI that have been tested as world peacekeepers will not be easily tricked.

Second, Sukamta emphasized the need for a strong international legal umbrella, such as a mandate from the United Nations (UN) or the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) Plus, to oversee the mission.

Proposed Cyber And Health Units Involved

Regarding the dimensions to be sent, Sukamta asked the government to pay close attention to the needs in the field. He suggested that the dimensions sent were not only the Army (AD), Navy (AL), and Air Force (AU), but also needed to consider cyber units.

He explained that the Indonesian Army was needed because the field of conflict involved ground attacks, while the Navy and Air Force were crucial to escort humanitarian assistance that entered by sea and air.

"Meanwhile, cyber units may be needed to monitor cyber attacks between the two parties," explained the legislator for the electoral district in Yogyakarta.

In addition, Sukamta also specifically requested that the government send health forces such as the Indonesian Army Military Health Corps.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the TNI to prepare 20,000 soldiers. Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin emphasized that the troops sent had the status of peacekeeping operations, which would focus on humanitarian tasks, such as providing health services, as well as building infrastructure in Gaza.
