Pramono Wants Environmental Friendly Sanitation Development To Be Expanded

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the direction of the capital's sanitation policy will be strengthened through the use of environmentally friendly technology. This focus is shown by the presence of the Communal Biodiger Installation in Pekayon Village, Pasar Rebo, which has been inaugurated.

Pramono said that the collaboration facilities of Bank Jakarta, PMI DKI Jakarta, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are the initial models for processing domestic waste that he wants to increase in densely populated settlements.

According to Pramono, strengthening the modern sanitation ecosystem is an important step towards healthier Jakarta.

"I want a larger ecosystem like this to develop. Economically, it is very helpful," Pramono said, quoted on Sunday, November 16.

This biodigester technology processes waste anaerobally to produce biogas that residents can use for cooking or lighting. In addition to suppressing pollution, the benefits of this alternative energy are considered to provide cost efficiency for households.

Pramono emphasized that the modernization of sanitation is part of a strategy to prepare Jakarta as a sustainable global city.

"This encourages savings and has an important economic impact. More than that, public health will be better," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Bank Jakarta, Agus H. Widodo, said that collaboration with PMI DKI Jakarta is a form of the company's commitment to a clean and habitable environment.

"We hope that the public can feel the benefits of adequate sanitation facilities, as well as maximize the use of renewable energy from domestic waste," he said.

Bank Jakarta has placed this biodIGester program as part of its support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially cities and the sustainable community. Bank Jakarta Corporate Secretary, Arie Rinaldi, said that this initiative would be expanded through environmental programs and community empowerment.

"Bank Jakarta will continue to expand social contributions through environmental programs and community empowerment. We hope this synergy strengthens Bank Jakarta's position as a regional financial institution that cares about sustainability," he said.

This biodigester program strengthens the acceleration of Stop Peluang Besar Sembarangan (SBS) or Open Defecation Free (ODF) in the first pillar of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM).
