PDIP Bulungan Will Be Strict Sanctions If AHP Is Involved In Beatings In Tanjung Selor
The BULUNGAN Branch Leadership Council (DPC) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) of Bulungan Regency will impose strict sanctions on members of the PDIP faction of the Bulungan DPRD with the initials AHP, if proven to be involved in a case in a beating incident at a cafe in Tanjung Selor on Wednesday, November 12.
This was emphasized by the Chairman of the DPC PDIP Bulungan, Markus Juk, to reporters at the DPC PDIP Bulungan secretariat, Friday, November 14.
"We are obliged to provide an explanation to the public so that the information circulating does not cause misunderstandings, this case is still in the process of being investigated by the police. And we respect the principle of presumption of innocence," he said.
Markus said the PDIP remained firm in the attitude that acts of violence could not be justified. If proven, the party will take firm steps according to the organizational mechanism.
"If later the results of the investigation declare the person concerned guilty, there will be strict sanctions, including dismissal. However, we are still waiting for the legal process to be authorized," said Markus Juk.
Markus admits that until now the DPC has not received a direct explanation from the cadres who are said to be involved in the incident.
"As chairman, I hope he comes to provide clarification. However, to this day there has been no communication by telephone, or directly to the DPC to provide information," said Markus.
Markus also apologized to the public for the outbreak of the issue and expressed his concern about the social impacts that arise.
"We understand public unrest. Whatever the outcome, the party is ready to accept and carry out decisions responsibly," Markus said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the PDIP faction of the Bulungan DPRD, Rozana, explained that his party also adhered to the principle of openness in responding to this case.
"We leave it entirely to law enforcement. The faction does not take any steps before there are clear results," he said.
He added that the faction would report the progress of the case to the DPD and DPP for processing according to party regulations.
Later the DPP will decide. It could be an ethics trial, could be temporary deactivation, or other decisions according to the rules. The final decision is in the Party Court. We comply with organizational laws and regulations," he said.
