The Septical Tank Of The Pekayon Communal Inaugurated In East Jakarta, The Defecation Rate Is 0 Percent
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the biogas-based Komunal Septic Tank Installation in Gang Delta, Pekayon Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.
This facility was built through the CSR Bank Jakarta program and is part of strengthening sustainable sanitation in dense settlements.
During the inauguration, Pramono highlighted the achievement of East Jakarta which was considered successful in reducing the number of open defecation (BABS) by up to zero percent.
"For me, the most encouraging thing is that the current report from the Mayor of BABS is open in East Jakarta, because everything has been facilitated with installations like this," said Pramono, Friday, November 14.
According to Pramono, the use of alternative energy from household waste can reduce the burden on residents' expenses. He claims the use of biogas is able to reduce the cost of LPG to IDR 1.2 million per year.
"We will continue to develop ecosystems like this, including government and private offices. Apart from being environmentally friendly, this program also helps the community economically," he explained.
Pramono assessed that improving the sanitation system contributed to reducing the risk of disease due to environmental bacteria. He said that the management of organized waste also supports Jakarta's vision as a global city.
"If all areas can be like East Jakarta with 0 percent open BABS, the quality of people's health will increase drastically," said Pramono.
President Director of Bank Jakarta, Agus H. Widodo, said that his company's involvement in the construction of a communal biodIGester in Pekayon was a form of support for efforts to improve environmental quality.
"Through this CSR program, we hope that the public can benefit directly from adequate sanitation facilities, as well as optimize the use of renewable energy from domestic waste," said Agus.
He stated that the program is in line with Bank Jakarta's commitment to sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially related to sustainable cities and communities.
Bank Jakarta Corporate Secretary Arie Rinaldi added that a similar program will continue to be expanded. "Bank Jakarta will continue to expand its social contribution through various initiatives relevant to community needs, including environmental and empowerment-based programs," concluded Arie.
