Bali Rudenim Deportation Of Pencari Asylum Asal Chad
DENPASAR - The Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) Denpasar, Bali, deported an asylum seeker from Chad who was about to leave for New Zealand via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
"The violation not only violates administrative provisions, but also has the potential to disrupt public order," said Denpasar Rudenim Head Gede Dudy Duwita in Jimbaran, Badung Regency, Bali, Friday, November 14.
The asylum seeker with the initials IAM has lived in the detention house for 1 year and 2 months.
Based on Immigration records, the 33-year-old arrived in Indonesia via Soekarno Hatta International Airport on June 1, 2024, using a visit visa.
After staying for a few days in Jakarta, he then flew to Bali to continue his trip to New Zealand because at Ngurah Rai Airport there was a direct flight to the kiwi country.
From the results of the examination, he continued, IAM admitted that he was assisted by a person with the initials I from Yemen whom he knew on social media to take care of visas to destination countries.
While reporting at the departure counter of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on July 31, 2024, airline officials refused his departure because the residence permit in Indonesia had crossed the line and there were problems with the New Zealand visa he was holding.
After failing to fly to New Zealand and starting to run out of money, he then occupied a mosque in the airport area for several days until an Immigration officer finally arrested him.
IAM was unable to pay the expense due to exceeding the stay period in Indonesia, so Ngurah Rai Immigration handed the man over to the Denpasar Rudenim to undergo detention.
After completing the administration and financial readiness, he was then deported back to his country to NDjamena International Airport in Chad.
Apart from IAM, the Denpasar Rudenim also deported a Moroccan citizen with the initials YEK back to his country via Casablanca International Airport.
The 30-year-old man previously served a sentence at the Class II-A Kerobokan Prison due to a fraud case in the payment of motorcycle rentals worth Rp. 6 million and was sentenced to seven months at the Denpasar District Court.
In addition to being deported, he is also proposed to prevent him from re-entering Indonesian territory, in accordance with Article 75 paragraph (1) of the Immigration Law.
"We emphasize the importance of compliance with immigration rules and foreign nationals to always respect the provisions while in Indonesia," he said.
