These 3 Motorcycle Thieves Have Been In Action At 100 Crime Scenes Before Being Arrested By The Kendari Police

The Kendari Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) arrested three members of a cross-regional motorcycle theft syndicate who are said to have acted in 100 locations in the Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) and parts of Central Sulawesi.

Kendari Police Chief Kombes Edwin L. Sengka said the three suspects who were arrested each had the initials R, G, and A.

The total crime scene of these three suspects reached 100 crime scenes. The location is quite wide, including Kendari City, South Konawe, North Konawe, even to Morowali (Central Sulawesi)," said Edwin when met in Kendari, Antara, Friday, November 14.

This case was revealed after a report of the loss of a black Honda CRF unit in the courtyard of a boarding house in Wuawua Village, Kendari, on October 27, 2025 in the morning. The loss of the victim is estimated at IDR 25 million.

"From the report, the officers immediately conducted an investigation and succeeded in uncovering the network of the perpetrators," he said.

Edwin explained that the modus operandi of the suspects is similar to the case of motorcycle theft in general. The perpetrators patrolled while riding to find a vehicle that was considered safe to steal. If you find a target, one of the perpetrators goes down, ensures the situation is quiet, then takes the motorbike away.

According to Edwin, the motives of the perpetrators are economic. Stolen motorbikes are sold to various regions in Sulawesi, with varying prices depending on conditions and types of vehicles.

For their actions, the three suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with Weights and Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning Detention. They are now being held at the Kendari Police.

Edwin appealed to the public to further improve vehicle security in order to prevent similar cases. He also ensured that his party continued to explore the theft network to reduce the theft rate in the jurisdiction of the Kendari Police.
