Indonesia-Yordania Cooperation To Exchange Information About Gaza

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has agreed with the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces Major General Pilot Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaity to form a committee as a forum for exchanging information about conditions in Gaza.

"We are preparing a cooperation committee to exchange information. Because we saw Jordan very close to the situation in Gaza, we decided earlier to update the intelligence report of the situation in Gaza through Jordan," said Sjafrie, who held a closed meeting with Yousef at the Ministry of Defense office, Central Jakarta, Antara, Friday, November 14.

Sjafrie explained that information about the situation in Gaza is needed by the government because it is related to the plan to send TNI troops for the peace mission in Gaza.

Later, the committee will consist of each defense attach in Indonesia and Jordan.

Through this communication between attaches, Sjafrie believes that Indonesia will find it easier to get information about Gaza which can be useful for the preparation of sending peace troops.

"So what's important is that we don't lose communication, we don't lose the situation, so when we find out the exact situation, we know what we're going to do there," explained Sjafrie.

When asked when the peacekeepers were sent to Gaza, Sjafrie could not give a deadline in detail.

He only explained that the decision to send troops was made directly by President Prabowo Subianto.

Previously, the Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Information Center (Kapuspen) Maj. Gen. TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah ensured that his party would always be ready to deploy soldiers to Gaza as peacekeepers.

This was said by Freddy in response to President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to sending peacekeepers to Gaza.

"We convey that the TNI is in principle always ready to implement every government decision and policy, in this case a direct order from the President of the Republic of Indonesia as the Supreme Commander of the TNI," Freddy told Antara in Jakarta.

According to Freddy, all forms of TNI's involvement in missions abroad are the result of political policies taken by the government, in this case the president.

In terms of technical preparation, Freddy admitted that TNI troops had indeed been prepared to carry out domestic and foreign missions, either military operations or military operations other than war (OMSP).

"These personnel routinely undergo interoperability training, logistical preparedness, and operational capabilities in various fields," explained Freddy.

Although all aspects have been well prepared, Freddy emphasized that his party is still waiting for the orders of the central government and the TNI Commander to carry out the peace mission in Gaza.

"Essentially, the TNI is ready to implement every government decision in a professional, proportional manner, and still upholds the principles of peace and Indonesia's national interests, based on national and international legal standing," explained Freddy.
