Blitar Earthquake Causes Building Damage And 2 People Injured
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded a number of damage in several areas in east Java due to the earthquake shock centered around Blitar Regency. Some 148 homes and public facilities were lightly to severely damaged. In fact, two people were injured.
Head of Data, Information and Communication Center of DISASTER BNPB Raditya Jati details based on data until Saturday 22 May, at 00.30 WIB, at least 36 buildings were damaged in Blitar Regency.
"BPBD Blitar district recorded a house heavily damaged 1 unit and lightly damaged 28 units. While the damage to public buildings in this district, BPBD recorded 2 units of education facilities, 1 health, 1 place of worship and 3 other public facilities," Raditya said in his statement, Saturday, May 22.
Then, three houses were damaged in Blitar. For damage in the District and Malang city recorded 83 damaged buildings. The most affected buildings are residential homes.
"Damage also occurred in Malang Regency, houses were severely damaged as much as 1 unit, moderately damaged 2, houses were lightly damaged 27. While in the damage to other buildings, health facilities as many as 3 units and places of worship 2," he said.
"Malang city, damage to houses is lightly damaged as much as 1 unit. In addition, BPBD Malang identified 32 affected houses and 15 public facilities. Local BPBD is still analyzing the level of affected homes," Raditya continued.
For damage in Lumajang Regency, 15 houses were recorded as moderately damaged. Meanwhile, in Pasuruan Regency and City, 10 buildings were damaged by the earthquake.
"The damage in Pasuruan City includes moderately damaged houses 4 units, houses lightly damaged 1 and places of worship 1, while in Pasuruan District houses are damaged moderately 1 and places of worship 1," he said.
In Jember Regency, several buildings were also damaged. Some of them one village hall suffered minor damage. In fact, the magnitude 5.9 earthquake left two people injured.
"BNPB received reports of the earthquake resulting in the residents seriously injured 1 person and 1 minor injury," he said.
