Coordination With PT Pindad, Minister Of Industry For National Car Projection Starts Production 2027
JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita projects that national cars will be produced in 2027.
Agus said that his party had held a meeting with PT Pindad (Persero) to realize President Prabowo Subianto's directive so that Indonesia had its own national car.
"We project that the national car will start production in 2027. The discussion of this strategic matter is to prepare and realize the direction of the President so that Indonesia can immediately have a national car," Agus said at the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) office, Jakarta, Thursday, November 13.
Agus explained that discussions with PT Pindad included financing strategies, marketing strategies, technology to be contained in these vehicles to full-sale services.
In addition, there are also discussions about the possibility of PT Pindad attracting other partners to work together to produce national cars. He admitted that PT Pindad had submitted good plans for this program.
"We are optimistic that the concept discussed by PT Pindad for the national car project is a good way. We as industry coach, in it the automotive industry. We fully offer so that this program can run well, can offer technical, technology, land, can be related to land preparation, status," he said.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government had started the first steps to present Indonesian-made cars in the next three years.
