Constraints Of Gas And Electricity Supply Caused The Production Of The Rokan Block Not Maximum
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Regional Sumatra revealed that there were problems in the supply of electricity and gas, causing disruption to the oil production process in the Rokan Block.
Pertamina Hulu President Director Rokan Regional Sumatra Ruby Mulyawan explained, the production of the Rokan block year to date (ytd) was recorded at 151.039. According to him, oil production in the block could actually be increased, but there were several obstacles in the field
"If you look at the one year journey, there are indeed several events that are quite significant, reducing the production or decreasing. That is mainly related to electricity, sir. So electricity is provided from units managed by PLN," Ruby said in a Hearing Meeting with Commission XII DPR RI quoted Thursday, November 13.
He explained that this year there were four major shutdowns in terms of electricity supply sourced from the electricity supply of PT PLN (Persero) and PT Mandau Cipta Tenaga Nusantara (MCTN).
Ruby further said that the Rokan Block needed gas supply for the company's operational activities, which amounted to 210 to 220 BBTUD. But in reality, his party experienced a gas shortage of 20 to 25 BBTUD so that oil production activities did not run optimally.
"This means that if the gas can be obtained, of course we can increase production, maybe at 2,500 BPH," he continued.
Meanwhile, for 2026, his party is targeting production of 154,000 BPH.

This figure is lower than the 2025 target set at 167,000 BPH. Ruby said this target had been agreed with SKK Migas because there was a plan for two plants to shut down at PHE Jambi Merang, which is the largest gas supplier to Rokan.
"So if they are flat, the gas will decrease again, meaning the electricity and steam will decrease again," he said.
