French Rapper Orelsan: The Feud With Mbappe Leads To Misunderstanding
JAKARTA The French rapper, Orelsan, said that the misunderstanding might be the cause of his feud with soccer star Kylian Mbappe.
Orelsan, one of France's most popular and best-selling rappers today, has angered Real Madrid striker with the lyrics of a song on his latest album, La Fuite en Avant.
The album titled La Petite Voix features Orelsan criticizing and insulting the player, his family and fans.
The voice was also addressed to Mbappe's family with the lyrics "You will sink your city like the Mbappe family".

This refers to the takeover of the Caen football club by the striker, Interconnected Ventures, in 2024.
Orelsan grew up in the city of Normandy and is a big fan of the team, which was relegated to the third division of the French league (Championnat National) last season.
Mbappe responded personally to the lyrics, accusing Orelsan of two-faced.
"Together, come to save the city you love so much. That person continues to beg us to join 1 percent without paying a penny -- because he went bankrupt -- just to look like a good person from Normandy," the French captain wrote last week in a message on social media.
Orlesan has since avoided escalation of the quarrel, saying that misunderstanding sparked the feud on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, local time, in an interview with Fun Radio.
"I don't want to respond. I'm still in a hot mood. I don't want to talk about it. This is a misunderstanding. I think I just need to explain the concept of this album correctly."
"These negative things formed a kind of inner inner voice of inner criticality that started to undermine me and only saw the bad side. That's the main theme of this album," said Orelsan.
Asked about the controversy at the French training camp, Mbappe declined to comment.
"There's nothing to say, I'm not interested," said Mbappe.
