The price that is considered too high is one of the main factors. With an initial tag of around Rs 27.31 worth or the equivalent of Rp500 million, this model must compete directly with Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross, two models that were first established in the Indian market.
In this price range, consumers tend to choose models from premium brands that are considered to have a higher prestige value. In addition, Hyundai also faces internal competition because models like Hyundai Creta offer many modern features at a much more affordable price.
Hyundai's decision to stopnication is believed to be part of a realization strategy. The South Korean manufacturer is now more focused on strengthening the SUV line with high sales volume, especially in the middle segment which contributed the most to total sales in India.
