Google "Locks" New Advanced Features in Google Maps, Only Available on Pixel 10
Jakarta – Google has once again made other Android users jealous. In its November 2025 feature update, the tech giant introduced a new power-saving mode in Google Maps — but unfortunately, this feature is currently only available to Pixel 10 users.
This exclusive feature is called Google Maps Power-Saving Mode, which is designed to reduce battery consumption during navigation. Google Maps is a power-hungry app due to its constant use of GPS, cellular data, and high screen brightness.
This power-saving mode not only reduces performance but also changes the map display to monochrome and simplifies the on-screen graphics. The result is a cleaner and lighter navigation display, while still displaying important information like directions, distance, and route icons. With this minimalist style, Google hopes that device batteries will last longer during travel.
However, Google has not yet provided official details on how much battery savings this will achieve. This feature began rolling out alongside the November Pixel Feature Drop and will be tested by Pixel 10 users first. If the response is positive, it's possible this feature will spread to other Pixel models in the coming weeks.
In addition to the power-saving mode in Maps, this month's update also brings a number of new features to the Pixel line, including AI Remix, a Scam Detection system to block suspicious calls, and a new Wicked-themed theme. All of these updates are starting to roll out gradually to Pixel 6 devices and above.
For non-Pixel phone users, this news might be a bit disappointing. But judging by Google's past practices, exclusive features like this are usually only temporarily locked before being released to more devices. So, be patient—this power-saving version of Google Maps might soon make its way to your phone.
