Sony And Apple Collaboration: PSVR2 Controller Now Can Be Used On Apple Vision Pro
The virtual reality (VR) world is getting hotter. Now, Apple Vision Pro users can use Apple's PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) controller Sense to play games in Apple's premium headset.
This news came after Apple released an update to the visionOS 26 system, which officially added support for PSVR2 controllers. Not only that, Apple has also started selling the controller directly through its official online store at a price of 249.95 US dollars or around IDR 4 million.
This step is interesting because previously PSVR2 controllers could only be obtained if they bought a complete package with a PlayStation VR2 headset for the PlayStation 5. This is the first time Sony has sold its VR controller separately.

Although Apple Vision Pro is well known for its advanced and intuitive hand-tracking systems, many users feel physical control remains important, especially for playing games. With PSVR2 Sense, users can turn off hand tracking completely. The trigger button in the controller replaces the pinch'' function, while joysticks can be used to scroll (scroll). The PS button in the middle serves to open the main display (Home View).
Apple has actually been open to third-party gaming device support for a long time. Previously, Vision Pro users could use Sony's DualSense controller for a more familiar gaming experience while maintaining the hand tracking function.
This collaboration plan has been discussed since December 2024, when the report said Apple was approaching Sony to integrate PSVR2 support into Vision Pro. Now, the results are starting to feel.
The presence of physical controllers such as PSVR2 Sense in Vision Pro is believed to be able to revive gaming interests on Apple's VR platform, which has been experiencing minimal playing experience. This controller support opens up new opportunities for game developers to present more complex titles or adapt games from other controller-based platforms.
Apple seems serious about making Vision Pro not just a futuristic work tool, but also an immersive play arena and this small step with Sony could be the beginning of major changes in the VR world.
