South Kalimantan Without COVID-19 Red Zone

BANJARMASIN - No region in South Kalimantan is in the red zone or high risk zone of COVID-19 transmission.

"Alhamdulillah our area is still protected from the threat of red zones with cases of transmission that are still under control," said the Head of South Kalimantan Health Office HM Muslim in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 21.

According to him, 12 districts / cities in South Kalimantan are in the orange zone or medium contagion risk zone and the other is in the yellow zone or low risk zone of transmission.

Hulu Sungai Selatan district is in the yellow zone with the number of COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment staying four people on May 20, 2021.

Muslim said that districts/cities located in the orange zone should increase vigilance by promoting case tracking and screening activities to detect COVID-19 transmission.

"In principle we remain vigilant, tracing (tracking) continues to be done, especially post-Lebaran, testing will be improved. It could be seen in the next week or two how the development of COVID-19 cases after Eid al-Fitr," he said.

Muslims also stressed the importance of citizen discipline in implementing health protocols in efforts to control COVID-19.

According to provincial government data on May 21, 2021, the accumulative number of COVID-19 sufferers in South Kalimantan Province with a population of 4.3 million people as many as 34,161 people with details of 32,281 people has recovered, 998 people died, and 882 people are still undergoing treatment.
