Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs Tata Calls Value "Bandung Spirit" Still Very Relevant To Reuniting The World

JAKARTA - The values of "Bandung Spirit" are still very relevant to reunite the world and face challenges together, amid the growing hearing of global countries of society, said Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir.

Speaking at The "7th World Indonesianists Congress" which carries the theme "Reviving Bandung Spirit: Boosting South-South Cooperation Forward A More Prosperous and Stable World Order" held by the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the Indonesian International Islamic University, Depok, West Java on November 12-13, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata said the global countries of the nation in 1955 were described as countries that had no wealth, limited in rice at the global level.

"Currently global north, if we look at it, if I'm not mistaken, 10 of the G20 countries, the largest economies in the world, come from global communities," explained Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata.

"Thus, with its economic strength, the global voice of the nation is being heard, it can increasingly contribute to improving and strengthening multilateral systems, for example," explained the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Moreover, at this time the multilateral spirit is decreasing, so that global countries whose voices are being heard must remember Bandung Spirit again," he said.

Bandung Spirit refers to the Asia Africa Conference held on April 18-24, 1955 in Bandung, West Java with the spirit of international solidarity, anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism, peace, social justice, to freedom to determine their own destiny and equality.

According to Pak Tata, the Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir's nickname is a moment to remind Indonesians of the value from Bandung Spirit.

"We want to remind Indonesianists who are from various countries, including Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the value of the spirit of the bandung is still very relevant to be able to bring this world together again to face the challenges faced together," he said.

"There are many challenges, climate change, various conflicts. This is the goal why Bandung Spirit was appointed at this congress," he added.

Highlighting the potential of the South region of the world which now accounts for almost half of the world's gross domestic product and the existence of the majority of the world's young generation, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata assessed that cooperation between South and South need to be revitalized, modernized and institutional, so that it has a real impact.

"South-South-South cooperation must be the main vehicle for developing countries to share knowledge, technology and resources to create development gaps," he explained.

"With Bandung Spirit, we can build more real and fair cooperation," he said.
