Swaying Lights, Blitar Earthquake Felt In Surabaya
SURABAYA - An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 that shook Blitar, was felt up to Surabaya.
The earthquake was felt by journalists who served in Grahadi State Building in Surabaya.
"We know that when the earthquake shakes, we also feel vibrations," said Fiqih Arfani in Grahadi, Friday, May 21.
According to him, the earthquake felt a few seconds. Some people in the reporter's office also opted out of the room. "We got out of the room, but we didn't get in again," he said.
In addition to Grahadi, Syafik, residents of Karah, Jambangan Subdistrict, Surabaya, also felt the tremor of the earthquake. Locals scattered out of the house.
"I spontaneously went straight out of the house when there was a tremor, a lot of people also came out of the house," he said.
Syafik claimed to know the earthquake when he saw the lights and chairs shaking. This happened while he was relaxing, suddenly the lights on it swayed.
"Kerasa like lindu. Not as hard as it was early last April but... If last April was hard," he said.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 shook the southeastern region of Blitar Regency, on Friday at around 7:09 p.m.
According to the information of the Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) the epicenter of the earthquake was at 8.63 South Latitude, 112.34 East Longitude, as far as 57 kilometers Southeast of Blitar Regency with a depth of 110 kilometers.
