Food Subsidy Budget 2026 Reduced, DKI DPRD Crypta Meeting Showered With Protests

JAKARTA - The Plenary Meeting of the DKI Jakarta DPRD ratification of the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) of the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget for the 2026 fiscal year was bombarded with interruptions from a number of factions of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

In the meeting which was also attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung, the DPRD and the DKI Provincial Government ratified the 2026 APBD Draft with a value of IDR 81.3 trillion. This figure is down from the initial planning due to the cuts in profit-sharing funds of IDR 15 trillion.

Before being ratified, a number of DPRD members submitted their interruptions. They protested the reduction in the food subsidy budget next year to Rp300 billion. One of them is a member of the PAN faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Lukmanul Hakim.

"I want to convey my sadness about my plan to reduce the low-cost food subsidy to the public of Rp. 300 billion should not be carried out. According to information from the meetings, why is it reduced? Because UHT meat and milk are not in demand," said Lukmanul.

Then, members of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD revealed that their faction objected to the budget reduction.men ask the leadership of the DPRD and the DKI Provincial Government to reconsider the reduction in the food subsidy budget because there are still many underprivileged residents who have not been included in the subsidy recipients.

"We from the PSI faction also strongly object if the food subsidy of 300 billion is reduced. Because in our work meetings at commission B, it turns out that we found subsidized food facts which should be the right of all beneficiaries or 100 percent of beneficiaries should receive, it turns out that so far our budget capacity has only allocated around 35 percent," he explained.

"So if this is cut again by 300 billion, there will be another decrease in the beneficiaries, it could be less than 35 percent," he continued.

In addition, member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Ali Lubis also criticized the reduction in the subsidy budget or low-cost food program of Rp. 300 billion. Ali even asked for the ratification of the RAPBD for the 2026 budget year to be postponed.

"Looking at the dynamics of the plenary session today and there are several factions who are trying to criticize the budget, especially the reduction of Rp. 300 billion for food assistance, Mr. Governor. I think if the ratification of the Raperda can be postponed for the next few days, we are outside the plenary session to be resolved," said Ali.
