Leaked Population Data, DPD RI: PDP Bill Must Be Passed Immediately!
JAKARTA - Chairman of Committee I DPD RI Fachrul Razi asked all relevant parties to be responsible for the leaking of 279 million identity of Indonesian citizens.
Moreover, the allegedly leaked indonesian population data was traded in a forum. Where, including ID card number, salary, phone number, address and email, even the data of the deceased is also contained in it.
"Personal data should be protected, not easily distributed what else is traded" said Fachrul, Friday, May 21.
The senator from Aceh reminded that the digital era as it is today is vital. So it must be kept confidential because it can be misused by irresponsible parties.
"The owner of personal data is an individual to whom certain individual data is attached. Every electronic system operator must have internal rules of personal data protection to carry out the process," he explained.
Related to this issue, Fachrul also assessed that it was time for the government to put forward the ratification of the Personal Data Protection Bill (PDP Bill).
"It must be passed immediately this bill, considering this PDP bill is important for the protection of our personal data. This has to be confirmed," he said.
Alumni of Politik Universitas Indonesia added that every electronic system operator must draw up internal rules for the protection of personal data as a form of preventive measures to avoid failures in the protection of personal data that it manages. The acquisition and collection of personal data by electronic system operators shall be based on consent or based on the provisions of laws and regulations.
"The Personal Data Protection Act (UU PDP), which is currently still a draft law, is targeted to be completed early next year," he said.
According to Fachrul, this PDP bill is necessary to guarantee the national interest. But not limited to state sovereignty and protection of personal data belonging to citizens, the Personal Data Protection Act will also govern the rights and obligations of data owners and individuals or institutions that collect and process data.
"Through this regulation, data protection officers or personal data protection supervisors will be established," he said.
Please note, the Personal Data Protection Bill is currently still in the political process in the House of Representatives.
The bill entered the discussion stage in the House of Representatives since last September. Originally, the law was targeted to be completed by November this year.
