Tesla Semi Electric Trucks Get New Design Ahead Of Mass Production
JAKARTA Tesla is rumored to be presenting an update version of its massive electric truck, Tesla Semi, before mass production actually starts. Starting from chassis to headlights will get an update.
During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting yesterday, there were not many discussions about Tesla Semi. But Musk reiterated that the vehicle, which was launched in 2017, will enter volume production next year.
However, as reported by Electrek, Wednesday, November 12, Tesla Semi will appear with a significant refresher. The front design now carries a full lampbar that stretches wide, replacing vertical lights from the initial model and looks similar to the latest Model Y.
Bemper is redesigned with aerodynamic channels on the front of the wheel, and the side of the vehicle looks slimmer with fined black glass. From a technical point of view, Tesla claims that the energy efficiency of this vehicle increases, with electricity consumption of 1.7 kWh per mile.
Where, got an increase of about 15 percent compared to the previous version. Combined with a range rating of 500 miles (800 km), this update ranks this new truck more competitively than competitors from Daimler and Volvo.

For refills, Tesla Semi now supports a peak power of up to 1.2 megawatts. With compatible charging infrastructure, this truck can charge up to 70 percent of the battery capacity in just about 30 minutes.
Although it has been updated, Semi mass production has not yet really started. The new Tesla factory in Nevada, which is planned to assemble this model, was originally targeted to operate by the end of 2025, but the schedule shifted to the beginning of the following year.
This update has two main objectives, namely strengthening the competitiveness of Tesla's electric trucks in the heavy segment and becoming the foundation for the development of autonomous technology in the future. Tesla said that Semi was designed for autonomy, although it has not provided specific details regarding its level of auto driving capabilities.
This refresh is also an important step for Tesla after a series of delays since the Semi model was first announced in 2017. Now, design updates and technical upgrades are expected to be the first step towards more stable and efficient mass production.
