PT Citra Continues To Prosper The Expansion Of IDR 500 Billion, Minister Of Industry: Strengthen The Supply Chain Of The National Textile Industry

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) welcomes the expansion steps taken by PT Citra Terus Makmur. Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita sees the action as a strategic step in strengthening the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry.

The Minister of Industry was present at the inauguration of the expansion of the PT Citra Terus Makmur factory in Sumedang, West Java, on Tuesday, November 11.

"I express my appreciation and appreciation to PT Citra Terus Makmur for this strategic expansion step. The expansion efforts made by the company not only increase production capacity, but also strengthen the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry," Agus said in a written statement, Wednesday, November 12.

The factory expansion involved an investment of IDR 500 billion. With this new capacity, PT Citra Terus Makmur expands the domestic market as well as has the potential to strengthen Indonesia's position as an important player in the global textile supply chain.

According to Agus, this expansion is an example of collaboration between the government and the business world in encouraging the growth of the textile and textile product (TPT) sector. It is known that the industrial sector is one of the main contributors to the national economy and employment.

This expansion shows that investors still have strong confidence in the national TPT industry. "We hope that PT Citra Terus Makmur's steps can inspire other industry players to continue to innovate and expand their production capacity," he said.

Despite the TPT sector facing a number of global challenges, Agus assessed that the industry's performance still shows resilience. In the third quarter of 2025, the growth of the textile and clothing industry was recorded at 0.93 percent, while its export performance remained stable at 8.07 billion US dollars with a trade surplus of 2.5 billion US dollars.

The TPT sub-sector still attracts investors. After declining in 2023, the investment value rose to IDR 21.44 trillion in 2024 and until September 2025, IDR 13.85 trillion had been realized.

The TPT industry also remains the main labor absorber, with 3.76 million people working in the TPT sector or 19.18 percent of the total national manufacturing workforce.

"Despite facing external pressure, the TPT industry still has endurance and great potential to continue to grow," explained Agus.

Agus ensured that the government will continue to provide support so that the TPT industry can transform into more efficient, modern and globally competitive.

The former Minister of Social Affairs said that his party had prepared various policies and programs to strengthen the competitiveness of the TPT industry.

These efforts include providing fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, increasing labor skills through vocational education and link and match programs as well as accelerating machine restructuring and production equipment.

The Ministry of Industry also affirms its commitment to support the availability of raw materials. "Based on the industry law, the government is required to prepare the raw materials needed," he added.
