Subaru Revises Electrification Strategy, Focuses On Hybrid And Gasoline Machines

JAKARTA - Subaru is one of the automakers who is classified as slow in terms of developing electric vehicles, quite different from other Japanese brands that continue to transform.

Quoting from the Autoindustrya page, Wednesday, November 12, this step seems to be quite appropriate now that EV demand continues to slow down, and Subaru is revising its electrification plan, which focuses on ICE and hybrid engines.

The Japanese brand will allocate investment to strengthen the development and production of hybrid engine models and internal combustion. Currently, Subaru only offers Solterra, Uncharted, and Trailseeker EVs, meaning the new model can be delayed or revised on a large scale.

It should be noted that, based on Subaru's latest management policy report, the brand still believes that the BEV will play a central role in its medium to long term electrification plan. But in the short term, the company revised its investment plans to include the development of next-generation ICE vehicles.

Subaru will also pursue a flexible and efficient production system that can respond to market changes regardless of whether consumer preferences are switching from battery EVs to hybrid or ICE, and also to ward off tariff impacts.

Model Expansion

Subaru plans to increase its global sales through product expansion. At least, there will be 10 new models in the next five years that will launch this Japanese brand.

Products that will be present will provide an extraordinary experience thanks to the embedded engine performance, including for cars aimed at adventure.
