Floods Inundate 2 Districts In Dompu NTB
Floods hit two sub-districts in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, after heavy rains accompanied by lightning flushed the local area for more than two hours.
Acting Head of BPBD Dompu Regency, Wan Muhtajun, said that due to moderate to heavy rain that fell from 13.30-15.30 WITA, 965 families were affected.
"This condition causes three main rivers, namely the Laju River, Silo River, and Soa River, to overflow and inundate residential areas," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 11.
In Dompu District, floods occurred in Bada Village, Potu, Bali Satu, and Karijawa with water levels between 20 to 150 centimeters. Meanwhile, in Woja District, floods submerged Simpasai Village, Bandai Dua, and Wawanduru Village and Baka Jaya, with water levels reaching 1.5 meters at several points.
In addition to submerging hundreds of houses, continued Wan Muhtajun, floods also damaged educational facilities.
"The hashtag for SD Negeri 22 Woja in Nowa Village collapsed due to the swift flow of water," he explained.
The Dompu BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) together with elements of the TNI, Polri, as well as village and sub-district officials have been deployed to collect data, help evacuate residents, and clean up mud material in affected locations.
"We are also coordinating with related agencies to prepare logistical assistance, health services, and infrastructure improvements," he explained.
