Defeat Honduras U-17, Indonesia U-17 Becomes The First ASEAN Representative To Win In The U-17 World Cup

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian national team managed to make history after winning from Honduras U-17. The Garuda Nusantara squad was also recorded as the first Southeast Asian (ASEAN) representative to win in the U-17 World Cup.

This assurance was obtained after Garuda Asia won 2-1 over Honduras in Field 2 Aspire Zone, Al Rayyan, Qatar, Monday, November 10, 2025. Two winning goals for the U-17 Indonesian national team were created through Evandra Florasta's penalty and Fadly Alberto Hengga's goal.

This victory is the first for Indonesia at the World Cup, either at the senior level or age group. This three-point gain also made Indonesia the first ASEAN representative to win the U-17 World Cup.

Based on records, apart from Indonesia, Thailand became the Southeast Asian team that had appeared in the U-17 World Cup in 1997 and 1999. However, the War Elephant team ended the competition in the group stage without points and finished as caretaker of the standings.

Of the six matches played by Thailand in the two editions, all ended in defeat to the opponent.

Previously in the 2023 U-17 World Cup, Indonesia's efforts to win had not yielded results. At that time, Garuda Muda, who was the host, won two draws and lost one.

While at the 2025 U-17 World Cup, Indonesia U-17 ended the group stage with a record of one win and two defeats. The defeat was experienced by the U-17 Indonesian national team when they lost 1-3 to Zambia U-17 and 0-4 to Brazil U-17.
