BYD Entered The Position Of The Three Best-selling Cars In October 2025, Honda Out Of The Top Five

JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) has just released national car sales data for the period January to October 2025. From the list of best-selling cars in October 2025, BYD is surprisingly included in the top three.

The Chinese manufacturer successfully penetrated the top three best-selling cars throughout October 2025 with a total achievement of 10,593 units. This figure shot sharply because it represented more than a third of the total BYD sales throughout January 'October 2025 which amounted to 30,670 units.

However, the market dominance is still held by Toyota, which remains the best-selling brand in Indonesia. In October 2025, Toyota recorded sales of 20,559 units, almost double that of BYD.

Cumulatively, Toyota's sales figures throughout January 'October 2025 touched 202,376 units with a market share of 31.8 percent. In second place, Daihatsu maintained its sales rhythm with 11,789 units in October 2025.

Total sales during the first 10 months reached 107,090 units, controlling the market share of 16.8 percent. Meanwhile, Suzuki was ranked fourth with an achievement of 5,550 units in October and a total of 49,803 units by the end of October 2025, obtaining a market share of 7.8 percent.

Honda followed in fifth position with 3,647 units in October and a total of 50,270 units throughout the year, or about 7.9 percent. Gaikindo recorded total national wholesale sales in October 2025 reaching 74,019 units, up 19.2 percent compared to the previous month.

In terms of retail, sales also increased 17.2 percent to 74,720 units. However, on an annual basis, the wholesales in October 2025 actually fell 4.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Cumulatively, the market has not fully recovered. Throughout January 'October 2025, total car sales in Indonesia only reached 635,844 units, or decreased by 10.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
