Review Album Forever In The Air: GIGI Measuring Strongly At 31 Years Old

JAKARTA - Music spirit is the essence of a band to exist and live. When the band is decades old, the spirit slowly fades and it feels natural. But GIGI doesn't want to lose meaning.

The album Forever In The Air, which aired last October 8, is Armand, Budjana, Hendy and Thomas' commitment to maintain the chemistry that has existed for decades, reconvincing each other if they still have the same vision, this time with JUNI Records as co-workers.

GIGI at the age of 31 finally released another full album, 10 years from the previous album, Live At Abbey. Armand et al agreed to return to work on this latest album in the old-school style through workshops, live recordings and wearing bands at Power Station, the top studio in New York which gave birth to the work of Madonna, John Mayer to Lady Gaga.

There is no doubt about chemistry, GIGI is one of the most solid senior bands. The cooperation between musicals and their souls is stated in 9 tracks that are quite colorful and interesting, feels younger.

On the first track, don't, GIGI shows a new approach for refreshing. Beat drums and guitar riffs open the album in a excited mood, wrap up the more casual lyrics, as if they have a much wider new space.

The distinctive color of GIGI is still felt in the first single of this album, Dancing. Easy listening rock pop, has a strong hook and is easy to sing, so the strong capital of this song is a mainstay for sing along with the audience.

On several tracks there are familiar chord progressions, giving a familiar feeling of several GIGI single hits before. Even in arrangement they can maximize the combination of guitar, bass and drums without much polesan, but the magic always feels 'full'.

Each song carries a vibe and its own message, depicting the life experiences the author goes through. There is strong and fearless rock energy in the song Don't Stop, but there are also gentle whispers to get through the tough things in life through Terbitlah as the album cover.

Forever In The Air also became a monumental work for GIGI. All moving in the same direction, playing music that doesn't rely solely on muscle memory.
