Revealed! This Is The Reason The Indonesian Steel Industry Is Still Using A Production Card

JAKARTA - Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Setia Diarta said that the use of used iron or steel spurs plays an important role in the domestic steel industry because it can reduce production costs.

The use of steel stamps can reduce production costs by up to 20 percent.

Badminton received the spotlight after being designated as a source of radiation for Cesium 137 (Cs-137) in the Cikande Industrial Estate, Serang Regency, Banten.

"Regarding this script, we see that it is not waste, but industrial raw material. Because some steel industries still need steel," he said at a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 10.

The man who is familiarly called Tata emphasized that steel screens are actually not waste, but auxiliary raw materials that are still very much needed by the steel industry.

According to him, if domestic business actors do not use steel stamps, they can increase the production cost by 20 percent and have an impact on the competitiveness of the domestic steel industry.

Used steel eruptions are common in many countries, for example, Japan which also uses used steel to be merged back into new products.

"Once again, we want to emphasize that the screen for the steel industry is one of the auxiliary raw materials. With this script, friends in the steel smelting industry can reduce their cost of production by up to 20 percent," he explained.

Currently, Tata admits that he has made a number of efforts to mitigate so that steel screens are not exposed to radiation.

First, the government has carried out verification to several industrial companies, such as PT Crown Steel, PT Citra Baru Steel, PT Sinta Baja Daya and PT Luckione Environmental Science.

Second, in issuing a metal non-B3 waste import masterlist, the Ministry of Industry requires that it be required to include evidence that the raw material is free from radioactive or harmful substances as well as a commitment letter for the installation of Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and the Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM).

"And have conveyed an appeal to metal screen importer industry players to install RPM and CEMS in their script smelting facilities," he said.
