PAN-PKS Discusses Democratic Reform, Singgung Singgung Parpol 'If Invited Okay Too'
JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) received a visit from The President of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Ahmad Syaikhu.
Zulhas said that the meeting was originally held last Thursday, May 20, but the MCC was working in the U.S. Embassy related to Palestine. The meeting was held today.
In the meeting, the two had discussed about Indonesia's reforms that have been running for about 23 years.
"Today may 21, 23 years of reform, that's what I said earlier. 23 years of reform there are achievements, there is a political party called PAN, MCC, President Jokowi, chairman of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani. That's partly the result of reform. Free to cover and free speech. That is also the result of reform," Zulhas said during a press conference after a meeting at the Secretariat of DPP PAN, Kebayoran Baru, Jaksel, Friday, May 21.
Zulhas said, it is necessary to think together not only PAN and MCC but all political parties. Because Indonesian democracy needs to be discussed a lot.
"For example, democracy generates harmony but what happens is disharmony. Now it slanders and spreads hatred, so it's commonplace when democracy adds harmony. Because democracy is supposed to produce value but instead disharmony. Now this is why?," he said.
Second, said Zulhas, 23 years of reform should make Indonesia more independent and sovereign.
"But our meal depends on imports, some even give the title of import is opium. Just imagine sugar, salt, rice, soybeans, vegetables, fruit and others. That's a big impact and farmers we experience the purchasing power destroyed because if the salt harvest and then enter the import then the price is destroyed," explained the deputy chairman of the MPR.
While looking at the ratio of farmers, continued Zulhas, the land is no longer owned. So farmers who used to own land but now even become farm laborers only.
"Dependence on imports is extraordinary and imports for farmers are increasingly poor and foreign debt is also added because imports use dollars. It's very detrimental, of course it's something wrong," he said.
Besides, it's about trade. Many of the missing local stalls are replaced by outside products.
"Warung Tegal (warteg, red) is gone, mushrooming Starbucks. That should be an opportunity for MSMEs to improve their capabilities and added value and product quality to improve, but this is not. We are flooded from abroad," said Zulhas.
"There is certainly something wrong with our democracy. What is that? Democracy is the key to moral values and values but it turns into a transactional democracy, giving birth to high costs. Police are looking for a lot of money to be imprisoned because the police need a lot of money. This needs to be evaluated how it should be," added Zulhas.
Third, continued Zulhas, the leaders can consult consensus. Like, the winning election results accommodate the losers.
"It's proven that we can't win. Yesterday's presidential election was hard but the presidents became ministers, meaning the political parties if invited okay too. We can't win but together. That's why the House of Representatives was elected and then there are regional elements and groups, so jokeub the result. That's what we're talking about," he said.
In addition, PAN and MCC also discussed the Palestinian issue. Where there is already a ceasefire in the conflict in Gaza.
"Lastly we are grateful for the palestinian-Israeli ceasefire," Zulkifli said.
