Indonesia Targets To Get 82 Golds At The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA Indonesia has set a target to bring home 82 gold medals from the 2025 SEA Games by the end of the year. This number allows Indonesia to finish in third place in the final standings.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, said that the target was based on a medal projection report that could be obtained from the Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surono.

"From the sport, we are targeting more than 120 gold, but of course there are differences. From us to the Menpora our target is approximately in the 82 gold medals," said Erick at the Kemenpora Office.

This number increased from the previous target of only 78 gold medals. There is also the possibility that Indonesia can get more than 90 gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games.

If they manage to lock in third place, Indonesia will repeat its previous achievements in Cambodia. At that time, the Red and White Contingent brought home 87 gold medals.

"If we can get 82'90 gold, we will remember it third. Yes, it is in line with what was before," said Erick.

When in Thailand later, Indonesia will certainly lose 41 gold medals that were previously obtained in Cambodia. This is because of the number of match numbers reduced by the host.

This makes Indonesia have the potential to only get 46 gold medals. However, there are also 32 additional medals from other numbers that can contribute to Indonesia.

If you only get 78 gold medals in Thailand, Indonesia's target of finishing in third place in the final standings, you can miss the medal.

The 2025 SEA Games Thailand will take place on 9-20 December. A total of 50 sports and 547 match numbers will be contested in the event.
