Civil Case Execution, Sibolga District Court Chief Clerk Leaked of Assault, Supreme Court Requests Court Report to Police

JAKARTA - Supreme Court Chief Justice Sunarto condemned all forms of intervention, threats, and acts of violence against court officials.

The Chief Justice's statement was delivered by Supreme Court Spokesperson Yanto in response to the violent incident involving Temaziduhu Harefa, the clerk of the Sibolga District Court (PN), North Sumatra, while executing a final and binding civil case decision in Sibolga.

"The Chief Justice condemns all forms of judicial intervention, threats, and acts of physical and psychological violence against court officials throughout the Republic of Indonesia," Yanto said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, as reported by Antara.

The Chief Justice expressed concern, grief, and regret over the incident experienced by Temaziduhu. Therefore, he ordered the Chief Justice of the Sibolga District Court to report the violent act to the police.

Furthermore, the Chief Justice instructed all court chairmen to coordinate with security forces in executing decisions. This is to further ensure the safety and security of court officials in the field.

"The Chief Justice emphasized that he will always stand behind and support the judges and all court officials in the Republic of Indonesia who are fighting to uphold law and justice," said Yanto.

Sunarto also advised that the recent incidents involving court officials should not dampen their spirit of jihad in the path of truth and justice.

"Instead, use this as a motivation to strengthen our hearts and fight with faith and sincerity, with the conviction that everything we do will be considered an act of worship," Yanto added, conveying the Chief Justice's message.

Previously, Tavip Dwiyatmiko, Chairman of the Indonesian Court Clerks and Secretaries Association (Ipaspi), explained that the violent incident befell Court Clerk Temaziduhu in Sibolga on Thursday, November 6.

The incident began when Temaziduhu was presiding over the execution of a legally binding civil case verdict, on the orders of the Chief Justice of the Sibolga District Court.

However, Temaziduhu was suddenly struck with a blunt object by the defendant, causing a puncture wound to his head.

"Violence against court clerks carrying out their mandate to enforce the law is an act of terror that must not be tolerated. We hope the police will investigate and legally prosecute the perpetrators of violence against court clerks performing their duties," said Tavip in Jakarta on Friday, November 7.
