Russia Worries Fragile Gaza Armistice
JAKARTA - The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is considered fragile. Russia asks all parties not to be complacent.
"Everyone (at the United Nations) is focused (on Gaza) because a terrible tragedy has occurred there for the past two years. Thankfully the ceasefire has been reached. However, the situation is still quite fragile, so we must not be complacent. This ceasefire must be maintained," said Russia's Permanent Representative for the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia in an interview with RIA Novosti. , Monday, November 10.
Nebenzia stressed that this important step should not make the world forget good things, namely the two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, which has been a UN mandate that has not been fulfilled for 80 years.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip took effect on October 10.

As part of this agreement with Israel, Hamas released 20 hostages who have been detained in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Thus, all the surviving hostages have been released.
In retaliation, Israel released about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from prison, including inmates who were sentenced to life imprisonment in terrorism charges.
According to Russia's position, conflict resolution can only be achieved based on formulas approved by the UN Security Council, namely the formation of a Palestinian state with territorial boundaries such as in 1967 and East Jerusalem as its capital.
