Thousands of 'Cap Tikus' Bottles Destroyed in Taliabu, Police: To Maintain Peace
MALUKU - The North Maluku Regional Police, through the Taliabu Island Police, destroyed thousands of liters of various types of alcoholic beverages seized during regional police operations in the third and fourth quarters of 2025.
Taliabu Island Police Chief, AKBP Wahyu Adnan Kashogi, who led the destruction, stated that the evidence destroyed consisted of Cap Tikus liquor and beer.
This measure demonstrates the police's commitment to eradicating the distribution of illegal liquor within the Taliabu Island Police jurisdiction.
"This measure is a preventative measure and law enforcement measure to maintain public order and security," Wahyu said in Taliabu, Antara News Agency reported on Monday, November 10.
According to the data collected, the total number of alcoholic beverages destroyed was 1,541 liters of Cap Tikus liquor and 443 bottles of beer of various brands. In detail, the "Cap Tikus" (rat) confiscated bottles consisted of 952 600 ml bottles (571 liters), 1,030 400 ml bottles (412 liters), 16 25 liter gallons (400 liters), 14 5 liter gallons (70 liters), and 88 1 liter bags (88 liters).
Meanwhile, the seized alcoholic beverages, including beer and similar beverages, included 300 bottles of white beer, 60 bottles of black beer, 48 bottles of mini black beer, 12 bottles of Topi Bintang whiskey, 12 bottles of red wine, and 11 bottles of McDonald's brand whiskey.
The Head of Public Relations of the North Maluku Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Bambang Suharyono, stated that the distribution of alcoholic beverages is often a major trigger for crime and security disturbances in the community. Therefore, his team and other officers will continue to conduct routine operations to suppress its distribution.
"In addition to law enforcement, we also urge the public to play an active role in providing information regarding the sale of illegal liquor in their respective communities," said Bambang.
He added that the destruction of the evidence also demonstrated the National Police's transparency in following up on the results of the operation's seizures, while also encouraging the public to work together to maintain order and security.
The destruction took place in the courtyard of the Taliabu Island Police Headquarters on Monday and was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Taliabu Island Police, personnel from the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) Company 4, Battalion C, North Maluku Regional Police, members of the Taliabu Island Police, and representatives from the media.
