Apple Adds Five Big Improvements To IPhone Satellite Connectivity
JAKARTA Apple continues to develop satellite connectivity on the iPhone. Not only developing, the company even wants to provide satellite services specifically.
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple has considered launching satellite services so they don't depend on third parties like Globalstar or SpaceX. However, this idea has been widely opposed by executives.
They stated that, "Apple is not an operator and shouldn't act like that." Even though this very unique idea stopped continuing, Apple continued to innovate on satellite connectivity on its devices.
The company added five improvements to satellite connectivity on the iPhone. The first upgrade is the creation of a framework for third-party applications that allow communication app developers to take advantage of the iPhone satellite network.

Two other key features are satellite powered maps and better message delivery capabilities. Satellite maps will support off-grid navigation without the need to download previous maps, while satellite messages will support photo delivery, not just plain text.
Apple is also pursuing natural use for satellites. Currently, satellite connections require a clear view of the sky. However, with this upgrade, Apple wants its satellite connection to keep working, even when the iPhone is in its pocket, car, or even indoors.
Finally, Apple added the integration of 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks). Thanks to this feature, the iPhone will take advantage of satellite connectivity through ordinary cellular networks to increase signal coverage, especially in areas with weak connections.
