Officially Inaugurated By The President, Commission III Of The House Of Representatives Hopes That The Police Reform Committee Can Fix Police Performance
Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Hasbiyallah Ilyas, positively welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's move to inaugurate the Police Reform Committee on Friday, November 7 yesterday. He hopes that this committee will be able to improve the performance of the Police.
According to him, the presence of the committee is a step forward to accelerate the realization of professional, humanist, and responsive police officers to the dynamics of national security.
"We view the National Police Reform Committee as an important breakthrough for President Prabowo to accelerate the transformation of the National Police to be more professional and humanist," Hasbiyallah Ilyas told reporters, Monday, November 10.
Hasbiyallah said the committee, which consists of 10 figures from various backgrounds, is believed to be able to provide strategic analysis and recommendations for improving the performance of the Police in carrying out their functions as protectors, protectors, and public servants.
"This committee is expected to identify strategic needs and produce applicative recommendations for improving police institutions," he said.
Hasbiyallah assesses that today's security challenges are increasingly diverse and complex. The advancement of information technology actually opens up new crime spaces that demand the professionalism and readiness of Polri's human resources.
Online gambling, cyber attacks, to provocations and the spread of hoaxes that divide society are daily challenges that must be faced by the Police. For this reason, a professional apparatus with qualified human resources and adequate support for facilities and infrastructure is needed. This is the important meaning of the presence of the Police Reform Committee," he said.
Hasbiyallah is optimistic that the composition of the committee members who are dominated by former and active officers of the National Police will strengthen the quality of the recommendations to be produced. In the list of committee members, the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and a number of former National Police Chiefs such as General Pol (Ret.) Badrodin Haiti, General Pol (Ret.) Tito Karnavian, and General Pol (Ret.) Idham Azis, as well as former Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Pol (Ret.) Ahmad Dhofiri.
In addition to police figures, the committee also consists of influential figures who have high integrity such as Jimly Asshiddiqie, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Mahfud MD, and Oto Hasibuan.
"The series of figures sitting on the Police Reform Committee are a guarantee that the recommendations generated will be relevant and acceptable to the National Police institution, as well as answering the needs of police reform to be more professional," said Hasbiyallah.
The PKB legislator hopes that the presence of this committee can accelerate comprehensive and sustainable police reforms, so that the Police are increasingly trusted and loved by the public.
