Parents Of Senior High School 72 Explosion Victim Describe Hospital's Slow Response, Leading To Their Child Having To Undergo Three Surgeries

JAKARTA - AAS, a 10th-C grade student who was a victim of the explosion at State Senior High School (SMAN) 72 Jakarta, remained hospitalized on Monday, November 10. Ugi Abdulrahman, the victim's father, said his son had undergone two surgeries at the hospital that treats explosion victims.

"Yes, he's had two surgeries: head surgery and eardrum surgery," Ugi told reporters on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Ugi expressed his regret over the hospital's slow response to his son's treatment.

"It turns out there was a mismanagement at the hospital, for some unknown reason, and he ended up having to undergo a second surgery. I asked. (The information was) that something was missing, two large nails," he lamented.

He also expressed his regret over the hospital management's attitude.

"After that, there were also management shortcomings. It turned out (the victim) was taken from the room and waited three hours before being admitted to the operating room. I also complained, was this the fault of the management or the doctors?" he said.

Ugi then tried to consult with a friend who is also a doctor.

"I also have many doctor friends. I checked with my friend and they said it was a management matter. From there, I complained too, and it turned out it was a doctor's matter. He said the management's statement was, 'Sir, if it's already inside, it's the doctor's domain to handle it,'" he explained.

"My son's treatment was slow at Multazam 2, Number 6," he said.

Ugi even received the latest information that a third surgery would be performed on his son.

"They said there was a third surgery, a head surgery. I saw it. There was an abnormality near the brain stem," he said.

Ugi explained that during the explosion on Friday, November 7, 2025, his son was very close to the point of the first explosion, which was inside the mosque.

"Very close. He was the first to explode at the mosque. He was very close," he said.
