After Runner Up At Korea Masters, Raymond / Joaquin Is Expected To Be More Observational At The Australian Open

JAKARTA - PBSI's national training men's doubles coach, Andrei Adistia, said the importance of a thorough evaluation for the young couple Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin before taking part in the next tournament, the BWF World Tour Super 500 Australia Open 2025 in Sydney, on November 18-23.

Andrei said that after Raymond/Joaquin finished runner-up for the 2025 Korea Masters. They lost to South Korean doubles Lee Jongmin/Wang Chan 21-16, 16-21, 6-21 in the final at Iksan, Sunday. According to Andrei, the match gave many lessons, especially about consistency and patience in regulating rhythm.

"In the second and third games they seemed to want to immediately turn off the ball and were not patient. Shuttlecock was also quite slow and the defense against the meeting. This is an important evaluation for the next tournament," said Andrei in an official statement from PP PBSI, Sunday.

He revealed that the Indonesian pair's energy began to decline in determining games, so that attacks that should be the main weapon were no longer effective.

"The hands were drained, so their finishing didn't come out. We will fix this before the Australian Open," he said.

Andrei also mentioned that the variation of defense is not yet optimal. In the final match, Raymond/Joaquin were actually carried away by the pattern of safe play that the opponent wanted.

"Even though from the ball on the attack they can produce a lot of points. Defence variations must be richer so that it is not easy to read," he said.

Even so, Andrei appreciated the development of the two who had penetrated the final in two participations in the BWF Super 300 tournament.

He hopes that the experience at the Korea Masters can be an important asset to face tougher challenges next week.

"Hopefully in the next tournament, the Australian Open, they can evaluate again what's missing here, because the level will be higher," said Andrei.
