Monday 10 November Prabowo Subianto Announces 10 National Hero Names, Including Suharto

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi revealed that President Prabowo Subianto announced the names of ten national heroes, Monday (10/11), including the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Suharto.

"Approximately 10 names. Yes, enter (Suharto's name)," said Prasetyo when answering reporters in the Kertanegara area, South Jakarta, Sunday night.

Prasetyo explained that the determination of these names had gone through a finalization process in a limited meeting which was also attended by the Minister of Culture who is also the Chairman of the Council for Titles, Service and Honorary Signs (GTK) Fadli Zon, at President Prabowo's residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Sunday.

In the finalization, said Prasetyo, Prabowo also received input from the leadership of the DPR and MPR. The President, according to him, asked for views from various figures before making decisions regarding the determination of the title.

"Earlier, the President also received input from the Chairman of the MPR, then also from the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, because of his working method, he assigned several to communicate with figures, get input from various parties so that it is hoped that what will be decided by the President, by the government, has gone through various inputs," he said.

Prasetyo added that the determination of the names of national heroes was part of the government's efforts to respect the services of its predecessors and national leaders who were considered to have made a big contribution to the country.

"Once again, as we also said yesterday, it is part of how we respect our predecessors, especially our leaders, who whatever is certain to have extraordinary services to the nation and state," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Syaifullah Yusuf, stated that the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia HM Suharto, the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia H Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) to the figure of Marsinah laborers, deserves the title of National Hero.

In addition, many more names of fighters from various provinces in Indonesia have been proposed to the center to become National Heroes.

"That's a lot, we'll just have to wait and see who gets the title of hero this year," he said.

He said the National Hero's title would be announced and all processes had been passed in stages from the bottom to the top.

"Whoever will be announced by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, all of them have been declared eligible," he said.

In addition, he invited the entire community to remember the kindness of the predecessors and while recording what was lacking so that it would not happen again in the future.
