Director Garin Nugroho Receives Lifetime Achievement At The 2025 LSF Award

Jakarta - Ministry of Culture through the Film Censorship Institute (LSF) has again held an LSF 2025 Award with the theme "Promoting Age-appropriate Watching Culture", which took place at Studio 5 Emtek City, Jakarta, on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

This event, which was broadcast live by Indosiar and Vidio, is a form of appreciation for filmmakers, institutions, and film people who contribute to strengthening the culture of independent censorship and developing the national film ecosystem.

The event opened with a collaborative performance from Lesti Kejora with 16 Dangdut Academy 7 participants, featuring a medley of regional songs from Sumatra to Papua as a symbol of the diversity of Indonesian culture.

In his remarks, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized the importance of film as a reflection of civilization and national identity in the global arena.

"Our film ecosystem is relatively very good. Smooth production, extraordinary audiences, full cinemas, and many excellent films at international festivals. We want Indonesian films to be of higher quality, bring national values, and be increasingly known globally," said Fadli.

He also reminded the importance of implementing independent censorship by both filmmakers and spectators.

"Sensorship is needed for things that are against the laws and values of the nation. Please work, but remain in the corridor of Indonesian law and values," he said.

On the night of the award, Fadli Zon handed the Best Independent Censor Film Poster award to poster creator 1 Brother 7 Ponakan. In addition, he also announced the Lifetime Achievement Award for director Garin Nugroho, whom he calls a wide teacher'' for the younger generation of Indonesian cinema.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Naswardi LSF explained that the LSF Award is a forum to appreciate works in the field of film and television, as well as strengthen public awareness of the importance of censorship literacy.

"We want to continue to promote age-appropriate viewing culture and strengthen censorship literacy in society," he said.

Throughout the period August 2023 to December 2024, LSF has assessed 58,415 films and film advertisements, with 18 award categories. Some of the winners include the Adventure of Hantang Capture Children as Films of All the Best Ages, Cinta Dalam Sincere for the 13+ category, and Saksa Kubur as Best 17+ Film.

The event was also enlivened by the appearance of Dewi Persik, Randy Pangalila, Quinn Salman, Prince Poetiray, and the Ungu band. A number of officials attended this event, including Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak and Chancellor of Al Azhar Indonesia University Widodo Muktiyo.

Minister Fadli was accompanied by Secretary General Bambang Wibawarta, Inspector General Fryda Lucyana, Director General Ahmad Mahendra, and Staff of Muhammad Asrian Mirza.
