Keira Knightley Shares Tricks To Memorize Scripts Despite Experiencing Dyslexia

JAKARTA - Keira Knightley has again stolen the public's attention. Not through his role, but through his personal story about how to overcomeDislexia in his acting career.

In The Graham Norton Show which aired on Friday, October 31, 2025, Keira revealed that she has a unique way to help herself memorize the film script by drawing.

Keira, who has also just released a children's book entitled I Love You Just the Same, said that all the illustrations in the book were made by yourself. According to him, the drawing process is not just a hobby, but also part of how to learn dialogue.

"I do draw a lot. I'm disexcitated, so memorizing dialogue is sometimes quite difficult to believe," he said, quoted from the People page on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Keira explained that she recorded the script dialogue first. The recording was then listened to repeatedly while drawing.

"When I listen to the recording, I draw all the time and the picture must be quite detailed. Otherwise, the dialogue will not go into my head," he said.

Interestingly, the images that are often made are not the characters or scenes of the film, but "old clothes with a lot of wrinkles".

This had made the host, Graham Norton joked by saying, "Hello".

Keira also replied with a laugh, "I'll make a picture of you later,"

Norton then replied, "I think you've made it.

Keira remembers being diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 6 years".

In the Ruthie's Table 4 podcast 4 years ago, he said that his difficulty reading had made the school look for ways to stay motivated.

"Schools say to my parents, 'He can't read at all, we need something that can motivate him. What does he want?'" he said.

The answer is acting. Her parents know Keira wants to enter the world of acting, so they help her get an agent. That opportunity became a big impetus for Keira to try harder.

"My values are indeed rising. It really makes me move forward," he added.

Now drawing is not only helping Keira memorize, but also being a creative expression that is finally shared through her child's bookwork.

Besides being known for his stunning acting, Keira also shows how art can be a bridge to face learning challenges such as dyslexia.

Keira's story gives a message that everyone has a different way of learning. The most important thing is to find a method that makes us develop, not give up.
