Nurul Arifin Appreciates Meutya Hafid's Performance And PPATK's Eradication Of Online Gambling

Jakarta member of Commission I DPR RI from the Golkar Party faction, Nurul Arifin, gave high appreciation for the quick steps and strong commitment of the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in eradicating online gambling practices in Indonesia.

Nurul assessed that the achievement of blocking more than 2.4 million online gambling content until the third quarter of 2025, as well as a 57% decrease in online gambling transactions, is clear evidence that cross-institutional collaboration under President Prabowo Subianto's direction is effective.

"I really appreciate the concrete steps taken by the Minister of Trade, Meutya Hafid and the Head of PPATK, Ivan Yustiavandana. This is not just a number, but a tangible result of the government's hard work in protecting the public from the dangers of online gambling which damage the nation's family and moral economy," said Nurul Arifin in Jakarta, Saturday, November 8.

Nurul emphasized that this success reflects a good synergy between ministries, institutions, and the digital sector. He said that the massive blocking policy of more than two million content and reporting 23,604 suspicious accounts to PPATK showed the government's seriousness in closing the space for the circulation of illicit money from online gambling.

The Menkomdigi step which is not only focused on blocking access, but also tracking the flow of funds through accounts, is a very precise comprehensive strategy. This is in accordance with the clean and responsible digital spirit of governance," he continued.

The Golkar Party politician also highlighted President Prabowo Subianto's directive that online gambling is a cross-border crime and requires international cooperation. According to Nurul, Meutya Hafid's statement to cooperate with foreign partners shows a visionary view and is in line with Indonesia's foreign policy in facing global digital challenges.

Mrs. Meutya shows firm and collaborative leadership. Her efforts to speak with international partners for the sake of eradicating cross-border online gambling are very worthy of support," he said.

On the other hand, Nurul also hopes that the community will play an active role by reporting if they find sites or social media accounts promoting online gambling. He reminded that eradication is not only dependent on the government, but also public awareness.

"The government has moved extraordinarily fast, now is the time for people to participate in keeping our digital space clean from harmful content," concluded Nurul.

The decisive steps taken by the Ministry of Communication and Culture and PPATK are considered an important milestone in creating a healthier, safer and productive digital ecosystem for the Indonesian people in the era of President Prabowo's administration.
