Bekasi Metro Police Securs 27 Chinese Foreigners For Online Fraud With Police Mode

Bekasi Metro Police has uncovered cases of fraud and online extortion involving 27 foreign nationals (WNA) from China. The perpetrators carried out their actions by pretending to be Chinese police and investors.

Kasatreskrim Polres Metro Bekasi AKBP, Agna Bhuwana, explained that the disclosure of this case began with reports from the public in Bekasi who complained that Indonesia's telephone number was being used to commit fraud with various modes.

"From the results of our team's investigation, the number was apparently used for fraudulent activities against fellow Chinese foreigners," Agna said in his statement, Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Through digital tracking, the Bekasi Metro Police Satreskrim team managed to trace the location of the source of the call. As a result, suspicious activity was detected in a house in the Tanjung Karang Timur area, Bandar Lampung.

"So on this basis, the Bekasi Metro Police Satreskrim conducted an in-depth investigation into the phone number, where it was found that the position of the number was in a house having its address at the Pioneer Gang, Peace District, Tanjung Karang Timur Village, Bandar Lampung," he explained.

After confirming the location, the Bekasi Metro Police coordinated with the local police in Lampung to carry out the raid on October 31, 2025. From this operation, 27 Chinese foreigners were secured without a fight.

"We have arrested 27 foreigners who pretended to be Chinese police officers to commit fraud or extortion against fellow Chinese foreigners," said Agna.

Of these, 21 people are male and six are female. All of them are known to use visit visas (Visa on Arrival / VOA).

Officers found a number of evidences in the form of communication devices and documents that were allegedly used to carry out scamming. The perpetrators were then taken to the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters for further investigation.

According to Agna, the perpetrators are suspected of being controlled by a big boss operating from China Taipei, Taiwan. Currently, the Bekasi Metro Police have coordinated with the Bekasi Immigration Office and Interpol Indonesia to follow up on the cross-border case.

"We are also coordinating with the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol so that the handling is carried out together with the Chinese authorities," he concluded.
