Berkshire Warns About Deepfake AI Imitating Warren Buffett

JAKARTA Investment giant Berkshire Hathaway Inc issued a serious warning on Thursday, November 7 regarding the proliferation of videos using AI (artificial intelligence) technology to emulate Warren Buffett.

The company said a number of videos on YouTube showed images of AI results from the figure of Buffett complete with comments he never said.

In a press release entitled It's Not Me', Berkshire confirmed that these videos have the potential to mislead the public, especially for those who don't know the legendary investor who is nicknamed the "Oracle of air".

"Individuals who are less familiar with Mr. Buffett may believe that the video is real and can be misled by its contents," said Berkshire. Mr. Buffett is worried that this type of fraudulent video is now a kind of virus spreading.

The company highlighted one of the videos entitled Warren Buffett: The #1 Investment Tip For Everyone Over 50 (MUST WATCH), where the voice of the AI Buffett clone gives investment advice that doesn't come from him at all.

Although visually quite convincing, Berkshire assessed that the voice used in the video "heard flat and generic," is definitely not Buffett's original voice.

The advancement of deepfake technology and AI-based sound-making tools has now made it easier to create imitations of public figures, raising great concerns regarding the spread of false information and reputational damage.

In May 2025, the FBI reported the use of AI-made voice and text messages to emulate top US officials in an attempt to steal government employee personal data.

Buffett has voiced his concerns about AI abuse several times on behalf of himself. In October 2024, two weeks before the US presidential election, he even warned the public about false claims that he supports certain political candidates or investment products.

The 95-year-old investor will step down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway by the end of this year, and his position will be replaced by Deputy Chairman Greg Abel.

Although Buffett is known to have supported Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the past, he has now moved away from political activity, focusing on the transition of leadership in the conglomerate he has built for more than six decades.

Berkshire insists that all videos or content featuring Buffett speaking without official sources are most likely fake AI clones. The public is asked to be careful not to get caught up in increasingly sophisticated digital fraud
