Prabowo Reveals The Reason The National Police Chief Entered The Police Reform Commission

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto explained the reason why National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was involved as a member of the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform.

The involvement of the National Police Chief in the commission is intended so that the process of discussing and reviewing police institutions can be carried out with direct support from elements that are still active within the Police.

"With the Chief of Police being active, you have access to discussions, to review, to see which part of the police," Prabowo said while giving directions to the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday, November 7.

The President said that apart from the Chief of Police who is still active, several figures who have served as police chiefs are also involved in providing views and input.

The commission consists of a number of cross-background figures, ranging from former high-ranking state officials to leaders of legal institutions. The President views them as the nation's best sons who are asked to return to serve through the country's duties.

Through this commission, President Prabowo hopes that there will be a thorough study of the National Police institution, including in matters that need to be improved.

The Head of State also asked the Commission to provide reports regularly in three months. The report contains the results of studies and recommendations that will be taken into consideration.

"I ask that maybe every 3 months there is a report, we meet, you report what you have collected," said President Prabowo.

"So once again, brothers and sisters, the main task of this Commission is to study and later recommend to me as Head of State, Head of Government to take the necessary reform actions, if necessary," he added.
