Russia Thwarts Terrorist Attack Plan In Moscow, A Ukrainian Agent Arrested

JAKARTA - Russian Interior Ministry officers succeeded in thwarting a terrorist attack plot in Moscow, intercepting a Ukrainian intelligence agent who was sending explosives for the operation, said Irina Volk's Interior Ministry spokesman.

"Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs' Center for Eradication of Extremism in Moscow, along with colleagues from the Federal Security Service, have detained a 27-year-old Volokolamsk resident suspected of planning a terrorist attack," Volk said, launching TASS November 7.

According to the spokesman, the perpetrator started a correspondence with an unknown person through the messenger app and expressed his willingness to assist the Ukrainian security agency.

"On the instructions of the 'managingman', he arrived at a garage complex in Lyubertsy City, Moscow Region, where he took a package containing explosives from a storage area," the spokesman said.

"His colleague should have sent him to Moscow's Izmailovsky Park, where he would also hide him for re-taking. When carrying out his plan, he was detained by the police," he said.

A criminal case has been opened under Articles 30 and 205 of the Russian Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained.

Meanwhile, the Russian Police are currently taking action to identify and find fellow suspects.
