AGO Urged to Name Sri Mulyani Suspect in Plaza Klaten Case
KLATEN - Senior lawyer OC Kaligis sent a letter to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) regarding the alleged corruption in the management of Plaza Klaten. He assessed that the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) was selective in determining the suspect.
According to OC Kaligis, former Klaten Regent Sri Mulyani should also be charged in the case of renting the Plaza Klaten building for the 2019-2023 period, not only four suspects have been named: DS (former Head of Trade of Disperindangkop), FS (Director of PT Matahari Makmur Sejahtera/MMS), as well as two former Regional Secretarys, JJ and JS.
"It is impossible for me to write a letter to the Attorney General without data on Sri Mulyani's involvement," said OC Kaligis, Head of the FS Legal Team, at a press conference in the Klaten Town Square lobby (KLATOS), Friday, November 7.
Kaligis emphasized that his letter to the AGO asked investigators to also name Sri Mulyani as a suspect. It is impossible for local government assets to be managed by the private sector without the regent's knowledge. The figure of the regional secretary being sacrificed? This is not only feasible, but must be a suspect," he said.
In the press conference, OC Kaligis brought a number of evidences, including letters and receipts from the AGO, the Plaza Klaten rental agreement dated January 11, 2023, and a photo of Sri Mulyani's KLATOS inauguration on December 31, 2024.
"The evidence is clear. The regent's approval came out on January 11, 2023, and he himself inaugurated this project a year later. Don't let the prosecutor's office selectively choose," Kaligis quipped.
Confirmed separately, the Head of the Central Java Attorney General's Office, Arfan Triono, stated that his party would coordinate with investigators. "Sy confirmed it with investigators, mas," wrote Arfan via text message.
Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani, who was confirmed by reporters, only answered briefly, 'I'm out of town, sis.'

Kasie Pidsus Kejari Klaten, Rudy Kurniawan, explained that the Plaza Klaten case is now in stage two, namely the delegation of suspects and evidence to court. "We may delegate it at the end of November," he said.
Responding to the pressure from OC Kaligis, Rudy emphasized that the determination of the suspect was the authority of the Central Java Attorney General's Office investigators. "If there is new evidence related to other parties, the public can convey it to investigators," he explained.
