Overcoming Extreme Poverty, The Government Wants To Give Land To The Poor
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid said, one of the prevention of extreme poverty through the Agrarian Reform Program.
Nusron explained that the program focuses on providing land to the poor to be managed into productive agricultural land to improve living welfare.
"The issue of giving land to the poor is very poor so that it can be managed, especially in the agricultural sector, it is called the Agrarian Reform Program. There has been a government decision for that. This Agrarian reform is one way to break the chain of poverty, by providing land so that they have the opportunity to do business," said Nusron in a written statement, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Friday, November 7.
By considering the availability and suitability of land functions, said Nusron, his party has prepared land to support the implementation of Agrarian Reform.
"We have prepared the land. But, don't ask for land around the residence that is not available. For example, if you ask for land in the Monas area, of course it doesn't exist. But, for agriculture in areas such as South Cianjur, South Garut or South Sukabumi, God willing, there will be," he said.
He explained that the land given through the Agrarian Reform Program would later have the status of a Right to Use, not a Certificate of Ownership (SHM).
The land management rights (HPL) remain in the name of the state.

With the status of the Right to Use, the government hopes that the redistribution land will be used for productive community activities and not traded.
"Why the Right to Use? Because based on our data for the last 20 years, many lands resulting from Agrarian Reform have actually been sold and changed hands," he said.
