South Kalimantan Police Seize 4 Heavy Equipment Excavators From Illegal Mines
The South Kalimantan Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate team confiscated four heavy excavators from illegal coal mining activities in a number of districts in South Kalimantan.
"We have secured four mining actors without a permit and have now been named as suspects with the initials IY, SA, HA and IB," said Head of Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter of the South Kalimantan Police Ditreskrimsus AKBP Yeremias Putrawan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 7.
The illegal mining action (Peti) was a simultaneous raid which was held from 15 to 29 October 2025 by the 2025 Intan Coffin Operations Gakkum Task Force on orders from the South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan.
Yeremias said that the Regional Police themselves initially only targeted two suspected perpetrators who were targeted for operation (TO).
However, the results of operations in the field managed to catch four people.
As for the four police officers, namely the Banjar Police, the Tanah Laut Police, the Tanah Bumbu Police and the Kotabaru Police, each revealed two cases of the Peti.
The suspects were detained and charged with Article 158 of Law No. 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum fine of IDR 100 billion.
Yeremias representing the Director of Criminal Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes M Gafur Aditya Siregar, stated that supervision and prosecution of illegal mining activities will continue to be carried out in order to prevent environmental damage and potential harm to the community around the area.
