RI Encourages Global Green Economy At COP30, Minister Hanif Faisol: Low Carbon Development Is An Economic Advantage
JAKARTA - Indonesia appeared prominent at the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil by asserting its position as one of the main drivers of the world's green economy.
Through the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH), the government displays tangible results from the transitional policy towards a sustainable economy.
Minister of Environment and Forestry Hanif, Faisol Nurofiq, emphasized that Indonesia's low-carbon development policy is not only aimed at reducing emissions, but also encouraging new, more inclusive economic growth.
COP30 is a momentum to prove green development is not only possible, but also profitable. Indonesia builds leadership from real action, not just promises," said Hanif in a written statement, Friday, November 7.
Indonesia noted various economic achievements from environmental policies, including a decline in deforestation of up to 75 percent since 2019 which has an impact on increasing the value of the national carbon economy, as well as restoring 950,000 hectares of critical land that opens up opportunities for investment in the forestry sector and biomass energy.
The government is also strengthening green economic instruments through the implementation of a Presidential Regulation on Waste-to-Energy and Carbon Economic Values (NEK) which encourages private participation in carbon trading and clean energy investment.
Both policies form the foundation for the growth of the green industry and sustainable financing in the country.
