Drinking Water Producer Invites Gen Z Against Misinformation In The Digital Age

DEPOK AQUA bottled drinking water producers encourage Generation Z to be more critical in facing the swift flow of information on social media. This was conveyed by the Corporate Communications Director of Danone Indonesia, Arif Mujahideen, at the Studium Generale event entitled Digital Crisis Communication Book Surgery at the Auditorium Vocations of the University of Indonesia (UI), Thursday (6/11).

The activity, which was attended by hundreds of students and lecturers, presented four cross-communication speakers: Arif Mujahidin, digital communication expert Rulli Nasrullah, Indonesian KPU Expert Diah Widyawati, and Makarovox CEO Jojo Suharjo as moderators.

In the discussion session, Arif emphasized the importance of information literacy and shared responsibility in filtering the flow of digital information which is often dominated by noise or noise. We choose education and openness lines. We explain issues directly to the public through the media, digital channels, and academic forums like this," said Arif.

He also straightened out public misunderstandings regarding AQUA water sources. According to the results of hydro isotopic research, AQUA water sources come from a mountain hydrogeological system, not ordinary groundwater. DNA the water is identical to the rainwater stored in the mountain aquifer. So, drilling is only a way to access water from the mountain system, not taking groundwater carelessly," he explained.

To preserve water sources, AQUA applies integrated conservation in the Watershed (DAS). This program includes tree planting, infiltration well construction, regenerative agriculture, as well as Water Access, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives to provide access to clean water and sanitation for the community.

The enthusiasm of participants can be seen from the many student questions about the communication strategy and management of the digital crisis. "Mr. Arif's explanation answers my misunderstanding about AQUA's water source and opens insights into industrial communication," said one student.

Jojo Suharjo's moderator assessed that this discussion bridged the theory and practice of crisis communication in the field. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the UI Vocational Commission, Marela Maulidiyanti, emphasized the importance of activities like this for students. We want to produce a generation of young communicators who are critical, adaptive, and not easily influenced by misinformation," he said.
